Made to special order in 2000, the instrument is typical of any from the workshops of Armin Gropp. Attention to detail, quality of materials used and workmanship to stand the test of time.

The body is crafted from nine sections of highly figured fine maple.

The soundboard from Spruce and the rosette is carved in the style of makers from the early 1600 baroque period.

The neck and swan head are intricately carved from spruce with the neck, fingerboard and peg boxes veneered with Ebony.

Tuning pegs are ebony and the bridge is rosewood.

There are eight traditional gut frets wrapped around the neck with 4 staggered wooden body frets glued to the soundboard.

The current tuning has the deepest bass string tuned to "D" 37Hz to the highest treble string fretted at the 12th playing an "F" 691Hz.

The seven treble courses are tuned to D Minor as follows - A, A, D, F, A, D, F with the 6 bass courses tuned as follows - D, A, D, F, D, A.

We have the two bass A strings tuned to the same pitch (55Hz) and the two higher bass D strings pitched the same (73Hz) while the bass F string is pitched at 87Hz, of course, other tunings are available.

The weight of this instrument is a remarkably light 1.28kg.

Overall Length 1255 mm
